Air Wolf
Airwolf is an American television series that ran from 1984
through 1987. The program concerned a high-tech military helicopter, code named
Airwolf, and her crew as they undertook various missions, many involving
espionage, with a Cold War theme.
The show was created by Donald Bellisario. The first three seasons starred
Jan-Michael Vincent, Ernest Borgnine, Alex Cord, and Jean Bruce Scott. The final
season, for the USA Network, was recast.
The show had a musical score (orchestral-based in the first and early second
season episodes; synthesizer-based thereafter) composed and performed by
Sylvester Levay.
Airwolf debuted on CBS in 1984 on Saturday evenings, the show
only ran for three seasons on CBS and one more on the USA cable channel. Airwolf
featured Jan-Michael Vincent as Stringfellow "String" Hawke and Ernest Borgnine
as Dominic Santini. String and Santini flew the helicopter on missions for the
"Firm". However, they agreed only to return Airwolf when String's brother Sinjin,
a Vietnam POW, was returned from the Far East. Alex Cord co-starred as Michael
Archangel, their contact with the Firm.
Jonathan Hart was a self-made millionaire, the CEO of Hart Industries, a global conglomerate. His gorgeous wife Jennifer was a freelance journalist. They were both amateur sleuths, and in every episode found themselves up to their eyeballs in murder, smuggling, theft and international espionage. They also managed to find time to snuggle together, as they loved each other very much. Max was their loyal, gravelly-voiced butler, cook & chauffeur, and Freeway their pet canine.
