Trout arrive at Carlsbad Lake and Black River.

Morgan Smith hosts "Ask the Game Warden"

Fishing at Lake Carlsbad

An abundance of water makes boating, fishing skiing, and swimming available in the Carlsbad area, which is a green exception in an overwhelming semiarid climate.

Lake Carlsbad - this River fed lake offers a variety of water activities including skiing, jet skiing, and boating. The lake is regularly stocked with trout, bass, perch, and catfish. A paved boat ramp and parking area are available. Just south of the boat ramp is more than 1,000 feet of beach area for the swimmer, complete with slides, diving boards, and a diving tower. Lifeguards are on duty Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Lower Tansill Lake - A long, smooth lake established for fishing, sail boats, canoes, or rowboats. It is regularly stocked with trout, bass, perch, and catfish. Boat ramps and fishing piers available; trolling speeds only.

Second Home Game a bust for the Cavemen

Alamogordo shuts down Cavemen, 22-3
Carlsbad totals only 116 yards of offense in loss on Friday night September 16, 2006.

Solid defense and plenty of big fourth quarter plays from running back C. J. Oakley added up to a 22-3 road victory for the Alamogordo Tigers Friday evening at Ralph Bowyer Cavemen Stadium in Carlsbad.

Alamogordo led a close ball game 10-3 with less than four minutes to play in the contest. The Cavemen had scored a 22-yard field goal by kicker Thomas Shafer with 7:25 left in the fourth quarter to cut the Alamogordo lead to seven-points.
